The orchestra of La Notte della Taranta is an extraordinary heritage
of the Salento and the Grecěa Salentina and contributes to the
dissemination of popular musical culture and to the promotion
of a surging tourist area.
During 2005 popular orchestra La Notte della Taranta “exported”
its music not only beyond regional borders performing in Venice
for the close of Carnival in Piazza S. Marco; in Bologna in Piazza
Maggiore; in Rome both in the Auditorium Parco Della Musica for
the opening of summer and for La Notte Bianca; but crossed national
and continental borders on May the second 2006 in China, when
it was the guest of the third edition of “Week of popular music
in Chaoyang”, with percussion rhythms of tambourines, the sound
of small accordions, strings and winds and the best voices of
Salentine tradition.
From the 3rd to the 5th June 2006 the orchestra has been performing
in Jordan in Amman, on June the 24th 2006 perfromed in Treviso,

On the 25th August the Final concert of the Festival of La Notte
della Taranta 2007 took place in Melpignano, with more than 100
