On August 12, the journey of the traveling festival "La Notte della Taranta" continues and reaches the city of Nardò, which for a few years now has become one of the usual stops in the musical web. It starts at 8 p.m. in Via XXV Luglio with the Pizzica Workshop by the Taranta Dance Corps, and at 8:30 p.m. near the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta in Piazza Pio XI the curtain opens on the theater with Giuseppe Semeraro and Giuseppe Gigante's performance in Apocrificial Apocalypse. At 10 p.m. on Via XXV Luglio to the music kicks off with concerts by Fiorenza Calogero in Anima Folk with Biagio De Prisco and Stella Grande in Pizzica Rraggiata .
The festival's pizzica workshops, a prelude in numerous stages to the show that takes place on stage, have become in their own right a much-awaited moment for the audience that is about to attend the performances. An unmissable event for pizzica enthusiasts that leads them to discover the rhythm of the tambourine and the different expressions of pizzica: courtship pizzica, pizzica tarantata and pizzica fencing.
At 8:30 p.m. it is the turn of the space dedicated to theater, one of the arts that the musical web aims to enhance in order to give an increasingly wide and varied range of proposals to the public is entrusted to Giuseppe Semeraro and Giuseppe Gigante.
Theater: APOCALISSE APOCRIFY Giuseppe Semeraro
Every era has its ghost, its apocalypse, its revelation. If we consider the apocalypse a literary genre, this then is an apocalypse in addition to the other apocrypha. What makes it unique is the urge to become a sonic rite and through that to share with the reader/viewer a sacred act. A secular prayer addressed to that future that seems to fall upon us today. The author, Giuseppe Semeraro is an actor and director, founder of the Principio Attivo Teatro company with which he has produced several shows. The text of the Apocryphal Apocalypse, after making its debut in the form of a show in the Cathedral of Santa Caterina in Galatina, lands at the Festival of La Notte della Taranta, with original music by composer Giuseppe Gigante accompanied by violin Annalisa Monteduro, cello Rosa Andriulli, organ Antonio Rizzato, clarinet Michele Nicolaci.
From 10 p.m. on July XXV Street to the music kicks off with concerts by:
FIORENZA CALOGERO in Anima Folk with Biagio De Prisco
Animafolk is a concert rooted in the sounds of Southern Italy. It celebrates the stories and values of an earlier era while modernizing their approach with instrumental work in step with the times. There are tammurriatas, tarantellas, songwriting, and classic Neapolitan songs, all packed into a show that mixes feeling and erudition in equal measure. The group is composed of Fiorenza Calogero (vocals and frame drums), Marcello Vitale (beating guitar and musical direction), Carmine Terracciano (guitars), Nino Conte (accordion), Gianluca Mercurio (percussion). Guest Biagio De Prisco (La Voce della Tradizione Campana)
STELLA GRANDE in Pizzica Rraggiata
Stella Grande, a Salento artist combines folk tradition with a musical poetics closer to our times, cknows the past, the importance of collective memory and knows that it must be preserved, remembered, but in the present, in everyday reality and not only as a nostalgic memory. He sings the folk tradition wrapping it in a current and passionate poetry following a theatrical register connoted by an emotional intensity that distinguishes each of his performances.
