NEW YEAR'S EVE WITH THE NIGHT OF TARANTA IN GALATINA

Everything is ready in Galatina for the New Year's Eve show with La Notte della Taranta. On Sunday, January 1, at 8 p.m., in St. Peter's Square, the Popular Orchestra will hold a special live show: two hours of pure spectacle in a sound and dance journey that will make the audience experience the magical atmosphere of the Concertone with traditional music that blends with the sounds of the thousands of Italian and international artists met on the Taranta stage in 25 years of history.

In the city of St. Paul of the Tarantas, the tambourines of the festival are ready to invade St. Peter's Square and Dante Alighieri Square to greet 2023 to the rhythm of the pizzica.

On stage will be Popular Orchestra singers Antonio Amato, Giancarlo Paglialunga, Salvatore Cavallo Galeanda, Enza Pagliara, Stefania Morciano, Consuelo Alfieri and Alessandra Caiulo, and musicians Attilio Turrisi - chitarra battente, Giuseppe Astore - violin, Roberto Gemma - accordion, Nico Berardi - woodwinds, Leonardo Cordella - accordion, Antonio De Mariani - drums, Valerio Combass Bruno - bass, Gianluca Longo - mandola, and tambourine players Roberto and Alessandro Chiga, Gioele Nuzzo, Carlo De Pascali. Serena Pellegrino, Mihaela Coluccia, Laura Boccadamo, Cristina Frassanito, Andrea Caracuta and Marco Martano will dance.

A new project by the La Notte della Taranta Foundation to promote the culture of participation in collaboration with the City of Galatina and Teatro Pubblico Pugliese. Objectives: to enhance cultural tourism with a promotional campaign that highlights the cultural and environmental beauty, the food and wine routes of the Capital of Salento Pasticciotto, and the extraordinary artistic richness of the basilica of Santa Caterina; to support participatory processes promoted at the territorial level so that the culture of participatory dialogue between public administration and citizens continues to develop and take root. The aim of the Apulia Region is to carry out interventions in the interest of the local community and to involve citizenship with forms of co-design.

A legendary destination between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, Galatina is now aiming at the quality of its winter tourist offer by proposing to the public the excellence of popular music. The show will open at 7:45 p.m. with choreography dedicated to the rebirth of the Salento landscape destroyed by Xylella.

The Olivami association, which promoted the adoption of olive trees and created the Taranta Olive Park, will donate 100 liters of oil to needy families in Galatina to which Taranta Solidale food parcels will be added. The handover ceremony will be attended by Galatina Mayor Fabio Vergine, Olivami director Simone Chiriatti and Notte della Taranta Foundation president Massimo Manera.

At 10:30 p.m. Galatina and Friends with Antonio & Riccardo Maglio dj, Tekemaya from Solero dj, Walter t. from BallaItalia, Roberto Serra dj, Freddy Codazzo dj, Sugar dj, Gianni Bruni dj, Gianfranco Loreta and many other surprises in collaboration with the sociocultural association "Quelli di piazza San Pietro 2.0."

The New Year's Eve concert is a project of the Notte della Taranta Foundation in collaboration with the Apulia Region, the Municipality of Galatina and supported by the Teatro Pubblico Pugliese.
